
Enligt en EU talesman - Joost Lagendijk, som är ordförande för Turkiet-EU kommittén, anser han att Turkiet bör överväga regional autonomi för den kurdiska delen.
“I don't mean it in the sense of separatism, which would harm the country's unity. The system should go on. The military itself knows that the situation in Hakkari is different from that in Istanbul.”
“The booklet on the ‘Democratic Autonomy Project' prepared by the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party, or DTP, may find supporters in the EU. It depends on Turkey to embrace such a system and the EU can't intervene in the subject. However, Turkey could consider such a system, which still exists in the EU countries of Germany and the United Kingdom,”
“We are gradually becoming impatient. Turkey took important steps, especially in foreign policy but they aren't sufficient to correct its negative report on domestic issues. The problems at home should be resolved,”
